📦 Your peptide vial (kept in the fridge, away from light)
🗑️ A sharps container (or a heavy plastic bottle with a screw cap)
🧻 Gauze or a clean cotton ball
🧤 Optional: nitrile gloves (not required)
Storing Your Peptides Safely
Powder form (not yet mixed): keep in the fridge at 36-46°F (2-8°C) — stable for 12 to 24 months
Once you've mixed it with bacteriostatic water: keep refrigerated and use within 28-30 days
Never freeze it — freezing destroys the medicine
Keep away from sunlight and heat (don't leave on the counter)
▶ 2. Mixing Your Peptide (Reconstitution)
💡 What this means
Your peptide arrives as a dry powder in a small glass vial. Before you can use it, you need to add a special sterile water (called bacteriostatic water, or "the mixing water") to dissolve it. This is a one-time step per vial — once mixed, you'll use it for the next 28 days.
1
Wipe the tops of both vials
Take an alcohol pad and wipe the rubber top of your peptide vial AND the rubber top of your bacteriostatic water vial. Let both air-dry for a few seconds.
2
Draw up the mixing water
Pull back the syringe plunger to draw in air equal to the amount of water you'll need. Push the needle through the rubber top of the bacteriostatic water vial, push the air in, then pull back to draw the prescribed amount of water into the syringe.
3
Add the water to the peptide vial
Slip the needle into the rubber top of the peptide vial at a slight angle. Aim the needle so the water runs down the inside glass wall of the vial — not directly onto the powder. Push the plunger down slowly.
4
Let it dissolve gently
Do not shake the vial. Instead, roll it slowly between the palms of your hands, or swirl it gently. Bubbles can break down peptides. When the liquid is clear (no powder visible), it's ready.
5
Label it and put it in the fridge
Write today's date on the vial with a marker, then put it in the refrigerator right away. Use it within 28 days.
💡 Quick Math Example
Most Aurelia peptides use 2mL of bacteriostatic water. So a 5mg vial + 2mL of water = 2.5mg per mL. If your dose is 0.5mL, you're getting 1.25mg of medicine. Always double-check against your specific protocol.
▶ 3. How to Inject (Under-the-Skin Technique)
Aurelia Method uses under-the-skin (subcutaneous) injections only
This means the needle goes into the fat layer just under your skin — never into muscle, never into a vein. The belly (abdomen) is the main place we recommend.
💡 What this means
Subcutaneous (sounds like "sub-cue-TAY-nee-us") is just a doctor's word for "under the skin." You're using a very small, short needle that only goes through the top layer of skin into the fat underneath. Most people say it feels like a tiny pinch and is over in seconds.
1
Pinch up a fold of skin
Use your thumb and pointer finger to gently lift up a 1-2 inch fold of skin and fat. Good places: belly (about 2 inches away from your belly button), the front or side of your thigh, or the back of your upper arm.
2
Insert the needle
If you're slim or have less body fat: angle the needle at 45 degrees (like the corner of a page). If you have more body fat: go straight in at 90 degrees. Move quickly, like a small dart — fast and confident is less uncomfortable than slow and hesitant.
3
Pull back gently on the plunger (aspirate)
Once the needle is in, pull the plunger back about 1 unit and pause. If you see any blood appear in the syringe, pull the needle out, throw it away, and start over with a brand-new needle in a different spot. If you see only air or nothing, you're good — keep going.
4
Push the plunger slowly
Take 5 to 10 seconds to push the medicine in. Slow is better — less stinging, better absorption, less bruising.
5
Pull the needle out and press
Pull straight back out at the same angle you went in. Hold a piece of gauze over the spot with light pressure for a few seconds. Don't rub it. A tiny drop of blood is completely normal.
6
Throw the needle away safely
Drop the used needle straight into your sharps container. Never put the cap back on (this is when most accidental sticks happen), never bend it, never reuse it.
Rotate Your Injection Sites (this matters)
Belly — 2" from your belly button Main spot we recommend
Upper thigh — front or side Easy to reach
Back of upper arm You'll need a helper
Lower back / love handles If it feels comfortable
Pick a different spot each time. Don't inject into the exact same spot within 7 days — this lets the tissue heal. You can use the My Injections tab to keep track.
▶ 4. Your Dose & When to Take It
Your specific dose is in the My Protocol and My Injections tabs. This section explains how to read the markings on the syringe and when to take your dose.
Reading Your Syringe
A 1mL insulin syringe has 100 little tick marks (called "units"). Here's how the math works:
10 units = 0.1mL (a small dose, common for many peptides)
20 units = 0.2mL
50 units = 0.5mL (a common semaglutide dose)
100 units = 1.0mL (the whole syringe)
When to Inject
On an empty stomach: Most peptides work best 30-60 minutes before a meal, or at least 2 hours after eating
Evening peptides: Some are meant to be taken at bedtime — your protocol will say so clearly
Stay consistent: Same time each day, give or take 30 minutes
If you miss a dose: Take it within 4 hours if you remember. If it's been longer than 4 hours, just skip that dose and take your next one as scheduled. Never double up.
▶ 5. Common Issues & Side Effects
🔴 Bleeding at the injection spot
Press firmly with gauze for 2-3 minutes. A small bruise is normal. If you see a large bruise spreading, or it won't stop bleeding, contact your healthcare provider.
🔴 A lump or bump under the skin
After about an hour, gently massage the area. A warm (not hot) compress can help. If the lump lasts longer than 48 hours, becomes painful, or turns red, contact your healthcare provider.
🔴 Burning or stinging during/after
A 30-60 second sting is normal. If it's strong or lasts over 5 minutes: try injecting more slowly next time, rotate to a fresh spot, and let the vial sit out of the fridge for 5 minutes before injecting (cold liquid stings more).
🔴 Nausea (especially with GLP-1 peptides like semaglutide)
Start at the lowest dose your protocol allows and ramp up slowly. Eat smaller meals more often. Drink plenty of water. If you're throwing up or can't keep liquids down, contact your healthcare provider right away.
🔴 Feeling dizzy or unusually tired
Check that you've had enough water and food today. Some peptides can lower blood sugar — try to eat something within 30 minutes of injecting. If it keeps happening, contact your healthcare provider.
🔴 Redness, warmth, or pus at the injection site
This could be an infection. Stop injecting in that spot and contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible. Take a photo so you can show them how it changes over time.
🚨 When to Get Emergency Medical Help — Call 911 or Your Doctor Right Away
Severe allergic reaction: hives, swelling of face/lips/tongue, trouble breathing
Chest pain or an irregular heartbeat
Severe or non-stop vomiting
Signs of infection at the injection site (red streaks, fever, pus)
Anything that just feels seriously wrong — trust your gut
For non-emergency concerns: contact your healthcare provider. For platform / shipping / billing issues, use the Support tab.
▶ 6. Common Questions
Q: Can I inject through my clothing?
A: No. Always inject into clean, bare skin that you've wiped with an alcohol pad. No exceptions.
Q: I see a tiny air bubble in the syringe — is that bad?
A: Small bubbles (under 0.05mL) are harmless when injecting under the skin. Tap the syringe to make the bubble float to the top, then push the plunger gently to push the air out. A large bubble means you should redraw your dose.
Q: Can I travel with my peptides?
A: Yes. The TSA allows medically necessary liquids if you have documentation. Keep vials in their original packaging and bring them in an insulated travel case with an ice pack. Always carry them on the plane — never put them in checked luggage (the cargo hold gets too hot or too cold).
Q: My vial looks cloudy. What do I do?
A: Don't inject it. Cloudiness usually means the medicine has gone bad or been contaminated. Take a photo and contact platform support — we'll arrange a replacement.
Q: How do I get rid of used needles?
A: Use an FDA-approved sharps container, or a heavy-duty plastic bottle with a screw cap (an empty laundry detergent bottle works) labeled "SHARPS — DO NOT RECYCLE." Most pharmacies and many fire stations have free drop-off bins. Check your local rules.
Q: Can I exercise after injecting?
A: Wait at least 30 minutes. Exercise increases blood flow and can change how the medicine absorbs. Light walking right after is fine.
